Monster Hunter 3G on Nintendo 3DS



The upcoming Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) G is a sequel to the Wii title Monster Hunter 3 (Tri), and will be released on the Nintendo 3DS. The underwater features that were not present in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd will again return in this game, with a different control scheme. The game will feature local wireless play, and 3DS Streetpass functionality.

Main Article:
  • A new Brute Wyvern named Bracchidios, which resides in the Volcano. It is also the flagship monster of the game.
  • Lagiacrus now gains its own subspecies.
  • Returning monsters from Monster Hunter 3 are (as confirmed so far) Sharq, Epioth, Altaroth, Kelbi, Jaggi, Jaggia, Baggi, Ludroth, Uroktor, Rhenoplos, Great Baggi, Great Jaggi, Qurupeco, Barroth, Gobul, Agnaktor, Rathalos, Rathian, Lagiacrus, Uragaan, Diablos, Barioth, Royal Ludroth, Jhen Mohran, Gigginox, and Ceadeus.
    • Some of these monsters have new attacks such as: Gigginox laying eggs on its back, Qurupeco performing a Sleep-inducing dance, Uragaan connecting its roll into a jaw slam, and Jhen Mohran expelling a jet of sand from its mouth.
  • Returning monsters from Monster Hunter Portable 3rd are (as confirmed so far) Furogi, Urukususu/Urcusis, Royal Ludroth Subspecies, Qurupeco Subspecies, Gigginox Subspecies, Uragaan Subspecies, Agnaktor Subspecies, Barroth Subspecies, Black Diablos, and Barioth Subspecies.
  • Returning 1st and 2nd Generation Monsters are (as confirmed so far) Azure Rathalos, Pink Rathian, Plesioth, and Bullfango. These monsters have been revamped for the game

More Features

  • Another Shakalaka called "Kayanba" is able to join hunts. It appears that Kayanba is Cha-Cha's rival. Both can join the hunter in the single-player campaign, similar to the Felyne comrades seen in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. There is also the possibility to bring one of them into multiplayer.
    • According to the trailer, Cha-Cha has a new mask in the design of a knight´s helmet which acts as a whetstone.
  • The Mountain Stream from MHP3rd is making a return.
  • A new camera feature now allows hunters to center the camera on nearby monsters rather than the direction they are currently facing. This feature is optional and can be toggled via the bottom screen.
  • The bottom touch-sensitive screen can be customized to access various kinds of info and menus. The map can be displayed on this screen, freeing up space from the top screen.
  • All 12 weapons types present in MHP3rd will be returning in Monster Hunter 3 G.
    • The trailer has shown the underwater capabilities of the Dual Sword, Gunlance, Hunting Horn, and Bow; weapons which were not present in Monster Hunter Tri.
    • Similar to MHP3rd, Bowguns are split between Light and Heavy, omitting the Medium type and unique customization present in Tri.
  • The city of Loc Lac from Monster Hunter Tri will be replaced with Tanjia Port.
  • Supports local wireless multiplayer via multicart and SpotPass but does not support single cart Download Play.There has been no official confirmation of Wi-Fi features yet.
  • Village Quests will have High Rank equivalents. These quests will include some of the subspecies from MHP3rd.
  • Monster Hunter 3 G is the first game in the franchise to feature dynamic shadows (i.e., realistic shadows which react to a light source).
  • Several of the returning monsters' armors have been revamped, such as that of the Barioth and Azure Rathalos. It is currently unknown if they are G-rank armors or if they will be replacing the designs from Tri.
  • Free Hunting in Deserted Island, and Moga Village's Moga Farm from Monster Hunter 3 makes a return to this game
